Jansson j. antmann
The grandson of Czech architect Jan Gillar, Jansson obtained his masters in scenography from Prague’s DAMU, at the recommendation of set designer Josef Svoboda. His design work includes the Prague Open-air Opera Festival, national expo pavilions, campaigns for BBDO advertising, and Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Tell Me on a Sunday in Sydney, Czech Republic and Slovakia.
Jansson has lived and worked in Prague, Bratislava, Canberra and Warsaw, with extended stints in London and Sydney. His professional debut was as a child dancer in Graeme Murphy’s Poppy at Sydney’s Regent Theatre in 1981. In addition to his design work, he has enjoyed two engagements, spanning more than a decade, as publicist for Sydney’s Darlinghurst Theatre Company. He also spent several years as the head of communications for the Australian Government Department of Industry, Tourism and Resources.
In Europe, he was international correspondent for Poland’s Manager Magazine, before being appointed Editor-in-Chief at the arts and lifestyle magazine LaVie. He has been a contributor and reviewer for Limelight magazine since 2018.
