Dr kristen mann

Dr Kristen Mann is an expert Aegean archaeologist with 17 years of excavation experience in Greece, Cyprus, Jordan and Australia, and a decade of experience teaching at the University of Sydney.

A specialist in Early Greek settlement archaeology, Kristen’s research interests are wide, stretching from the dynamism of emerging Cycladic maritime powers to the complexities of medieval feudalism in the Aegean. In all areas, Kristen is inevitably drawn to the lost voices of those who "fall through the cracks" of written time, such as women, children, slaves and migrants.

Kristen’s passion and curiosity are infectious. She has won numerous grants and awards – including the University of Sydney Medal – and her undergraduate courses have been repeatedly commended for her innovative content and dedication. She recently held a competitive fellowship at the Harvard Centre for Hellenic Studies.

Kristen now lives on the island of Andros and is as passionate about modern Greek language, culture and history as she is about archaeology and social history.
